Rubber Binding Line Quality Monitoring Program Operation

The rubber-binding linkage line is linked by a machine and can complete the whole process of setting up the book with a wireless glue, which is suitable for the binding of large quantities of books and magazines. This kind of production line has a high degree of automation, high unit production, and it is particularly important to implement effective full-scale quality control. This article combines the practice of the author's company and talks about the quality control and procedural operation of the glue-binding linkage line.

First, what is the quality of the procedural operation

The procedural work method is a management method that regulates the operation behavior of production staff. It adopts a scientific classification and preparation method. According to the inherent law of controllable factors, the entire work content of the operating personnel in the relatively independent working face in the production process is compiled into a set of standardized working procedures. Each program has corresponding working standards and schedule requirements, and after field inspections, evaluations, etc., to ensure the implementation of the effect, to minimize the negative effects of different operating habits. The procedural operation of quality monitoring is the application of a procedural work method to the implementation of quality control to ensure the full realization of the monitoring target. There are two types of procedural work methods: time series and process type. According to the flow monitoring characteristics of quality monitoring and rubber binding linkage line, we adopt a working method based on procedure type, that is, in order to complete the glue-binding work process, divide the monitoring stage according to the quality monitoring steps, determine the key control points, and mark the monitoring and early warning. Prepare monitoring procedures, standards and acceptance procedures.

Second, quality monitoring project

In accordance with the requirements of full-scale quality monitoring, we have listed the quality monitoring items of the glue-binding line as Table 1.

Third, the implementation of quality monitoring projects

This article focuses only on the implementation of several quality control projects for raw and auxiliary materials, milling backs, and adhesives.

Raw materials

Here refers to the processing object, ie the signature and the cover. The captain of the host and the captain of the collation should carefully review the handover, compare the samples, proofs, carefully review the designated books, and master the titles, opening numbers, algebraic numbers, sequence numbers of the pages of each generation, thickness of the pages, and cover rules, and confirm the need for binding. The product must be complete and correct.

Monitoring and warning:

(1) The effect of signatures on the appearance quality of finished books is crucial. The foldings must be in place, accurate, and free of hollows and wrinkles. Otherwise, frequent milling of signatures will occur, so that the signatures on the inside will not be glued. Caused a page drop. Booklets with thick paper and many folds should be cut into smaller sizes and then folded. For this reason, you should consider printing the relevant rules when planning your printing. After folding, the signatures should be tied tightly and the setting time should not be less than 2 days to prevent rebound and hair loss after the bundles are released. The signature should not be too dry or wet. Too dry, poor permeability, adhesive on the surface, affecting the bond strength; excessive humidity, slow curing, affecting the molding and cutting quality. In winter, there is a large temperature difference between the interior and exterior, and the signatures to be processed must be placed in advance in the workshop so that the booklet temperature can be processed after being adapted to the room temperature. Otherwise, because the signature temperature is too low, the adhesive layer is cold after the adhesive is applied, the surface temperature suddenly drops, the fluidity and permeability are reduced, and the adhesive strength is affected. When stacking and transporting folded signatures, care should be taken not to deform them, and it is important to ensure that the books are well-dressed after unpacking. The signature of the instant flattening of the flattener shall be neatly stacked and put on the bookplate after each layer for more than 2 days before being glued on the machine.

(2) Coverage rules should be as consistent as possible, and printed cutting marks should be added. Those who have marked on the seal are the cover of the rules. Those without mark can be singled out and dealt with separately to avoid waste and work. When the cover is cut, the upper and lower knife errors should be minimized to ensure the consistency of the rules. The appropriate amount of cutting is about 250 pieces per piece, and too thick a cover should be less. The cover must be cut to ensure the vertical angle. The color printing cover should not be used too much thinner or dusting, so as not to affect the adhesion fastness. The linkage line is automatically sealed and should be printed with quick-drying ink. There should be no knife on all four sides. Before the seal is sealed, it should be loosened to prevent adhesion. The dimensional error should be less than 0.2mm. When the cover is printed, the size of the head and feet should be increased to a certain extent without affecting the opening of the paper, which can prevent the glue from overflowing when encapsulated.
Major accessories

That is glued hot melt adhesive. Its quality is directly related to the bond fastness of the book. The main component of the hot melt adhesive is EVA (ethylene vinyl acetate copolymer). At present, the quality and price of hot melt adhesives on the market vary greatly, mainly because raw materials are not the same. Such as hot melt adhesive paraffin wax as a diluent to adjust the flow, some manufacturers use imported synthetic wax, and some use the lowest grade paraffin. Another example is a tackifier resin, which is useful for importing hydrocarbon resins, EVA resins, and also for rosin resins and plasticizers. Due to the oxidation of rosin in the air and the precipitation and transfer of plasticizers, the speed of aging and embrittlement of the glue is accelerated. This kind of low-grade, low-cost hot melt adhesive can be imagined if it is used for binding books and magazines. Talc powder is also added in the hot melt adhesive to increase the hardness and the color of the rubber is changed by titanium dioxide. The various materials that make up the composition itself are a contradiction group. During the bookbinding process, the infiltration of the book block relies on the fluidity at a high temperature, and the high temperature accelerates the aging of the glue, lowers the adhesive strength, and deteriorates the low temperature resistance.

Monitoring and warning:

(1) Different papers for book blocks have different requirements for glue. Such as the book block for the newsprint, books and paper, can use ordinary hot-melt adhesives; book block for coated paper, offset paper, because of its surface coating or large area of ink, fast heat dissipation, poor absorption, low penetration, use high-end Rubber; textbooks, reference books, books, slotting depth does not allow to increase, but also can withstand frequent turnover, to use high-grade plastic; some products that need to be torn in use, you can use low-grade plastic.

(2) Different production seasons require different glues. Especially in the north, in the winter cold, to ensure the temperature of the production environment, and to choose a slower curing speed, the glue temperature should be adjusted 3°C~5°C higher than in summer, or use a halogen lamp or iodine tungsten lamp above the rubberizing wheel. Baking to ensure that the glue temperature. In the summer, glue with faster curing speed should be selected to prevent book blocks from loosening after rebound and causing loose pages.

Under normal circumstances, glued hot melt adhesive meet the conditions of Table 2, before they can be put into use.

Milling back

According to the thickness of the signature, adjust the depth of milling back. To make the innermost page of a signature millable into a single leaflet. The edges of the milling back should be smooth, the back of the book should be flush, the milling slots should be free of hair, and the spacing and depth should be the same. If the milling back is an inclined surface, the thickness of the adhesive layer is not uniform, and the spine is difficult to flatten, and the adhesive strength is also greatly affected. Milling back, milling slot edge hair, rubber irrigation into the trench, the book page back and forth, easy to cause loose. Spacing also affects bond strength. Under the same conditions, the milling groove spacing from 10mm to 5mm, the initial tensile strength can be increased by about 1.5kg (milling back, milling process technical parameters in Table 3, Table 4).

Monitoring and warning:

(1) The depth and width of milling slots for coated paper and double-coated paper should be increased to ensure the bond strength.

(2) Milling cutters and slotting cutters should use special thickened cemented carbide inserts for professional brand-name manufacturers. This blade is wear-resistant, sharp-edged and smooth.

Glue

The glue temperature should be controlled within a certain range. When the adhesive temperature is too high, such as 170 °C, the liquidity of the glue is good, but more foaming, easy rejection of the glue, but also make the glue aging, become brittle; when the glue temperature is too low, such as below 140 °C, the glue does not melt Thoroughly, the permeability is reduced, the bonding strength is low, and it is easy to cause loose pages and page breaks. Generally due to the high ambient temperature in summer, the glue temperature can be adjusted down by 3 °C ~ 5 °C, but not lower than 150 °C; winter should be appropriate to increase 3 °C ~ 5 °C, but can not exceed 170 °C. Since the continuous heating in the standing state will cause the aging and failure of the glue, the glue temperature should be reduced by 30° C. to 40° C. in order to delay the aging when the machine is stopped for a relatively long time (eg, more than 2 hours). In the long-term storage in the natural state, the plastic will also become brittle and brittle. Therefore, special attention should be paid to the production date and shelf life (see Table 5 for the technical parameters of the rubber coating process).

Monitoring and warning:

(1) Glue should be pre-melted. It should be added at a time and grounded in order to keep the glue temperature relatively constant.

(2) There is often a big difference between the glue temperature display and the actual glue temperature. It should be equipped with a 50 °C ~ 300 °C temperature meter, often testing the glue temperature.

In recent years, binding has become the main method of book binding. In particular, the continuous introduction of rubber-bonded linkage lines is gradually changing the traditional human labor extensive binding. Therefore, it is of great significance to explore and improve the glue-binding process and continuously improve the quality of glue-binding quality management. This article throws a brick to attract the attention of the peers.
