New high temperature resistant gas barrier film manufacturing technology

Japan recently introduced a gas barrier film that is soft to the touch and can be used at temperatures as high as 1000°C. It can be used for gas sealing materials and separators for solid electrolytic fuel cells used at warm temperatures. The film is made of engineering plastics, combined with other materials according to specific needs, surface processing or multi-layer composites, and the normal temperature is generally limited to about 350°C. A 1 nm-thick clay crystal precision lamination technique is used to produce a soft translucent gas barrier film. Because clay crystals are very thin, they are flexible and do not receive light. Through precision molding, a translucent film that can suppress light diffuse reflection can be formed. Film thickness copy paper is equivalent (3 ~ 100μm), the film can also be made of thicker film overlay pressure. The size of the film is limited. In addition, if the same method is used to cover the soil crystals on the metal surface, the protective film can be made. This gas barrier film has a permeability of less than the test limit for inorganic gases such as gas, hydrogen, and oxygen at room temperature, far exceeding the previous range of plastic materials, and has comparable performance to aluminum foil, and has an ultra-aluminum foil melting point of 660°C. At high temperatures, performance does not decrease.
