Foreign media news, security services company Trustwave recently discovered a pos machine malware called "Punkey", and has infected more than 75 active IP addresses. Obviously, the software author has been improving the source code, or that Punkey can update itself! It is reported that Punkey mainly infects the Windows Explorer of the POS machine, and hides it, then scans the cardholder data, records the contents of the keyboard tap (200 taps can be captured at a time), and sends the recorded data to the attacker's control. If you think that Punkey can only do this, it's simple, because the advanced thing about this malware is that it can execute commands to periodically contact the server to check for any updates from the author. If the POS machine is restarted, Punkey will also restart automatically. As a result, the system is upgraded and patched, and the author can change the Punkey code to continue infection. As you can imagine, this is horrible. Trustwave pointed out that Punkey's injection and hiding process is more advanced than most POS malware that has appeared before.
