Remco Products, Vikan to Host Food Safety Mini-Sessions at IAFP 2017

At this year's IAFP convention, Remco Products and Vikan are excited to host a series of engaging and informative short seminars focused on food safety and hygienic design. Booth #321 will be the hub for these insightful discussions, where eight expert speakers will deliver 12 concise yet impactful presentations, each lasting 15 minutes. The presentations will cover a wide range of topics, including hygienic design principles, strategies to minimize cross-contamination, insights into current food safety regulations, validation of cleaning processes, advancements in metal-detectable brush bristles, and key trends shaping the future of food safety. Following each presentation, attendees will have the opportunity to ask questions, fostering an interactive learning environment. One of the highlights of the event will be a hands-on workshop on hygienic design of brushware, which takes place on Sunday evening at 8 p.m., as well as additional sessions on Monday at 12:15 p.m. and 5:15 p.m., and again on Tuesday at 12:15 p.m. This interactive session promises to provide participants with practical knowledge they can immediately apply in their own facilities. Dr. John Holah, the esteemed technical director of Holchem Laboratories, will kick off the seminar series on Monday. With over 100 publications and more than 200 external presentations under his belt, Dr. Holah brings a wealth of expertise in preventing microbial, chemical, and foreign body contamination during food processing. His contributions to the field are widely recognized and respected. Joining Dr. Holah is Dr. Edyta Margas, a food safety and hygienic design expert at Bühler AG. Her work involves conducting research, offering consultancy services, and delivering training in emerging processing methods and factory hygiene challenges. Her insights promise to offer valuable perspectives on modern approaches to maintaining high standards of cleanliness in food production environments. Deb Smith, Vikan’s global hygiene specialist, will also share her extensive knowledge gained from over three decades of experience in food safety and hygiene. She has authored and co-authored numerous publications in these fields, making her a trusted authority on best practices. Additional speakers include Duane Grassman, a market hygienist at Nestlé with over four decades of experience in sanitation, hygiene, and food safety. Bill Bremer, principal at Kestrel Management, will lead the food safety consulting group, bringing his expertise to the table. Dr. Stine Lønnerup Bislev, Vikan’s hygiene and compliance manager, will discuss her background in protein science and biotechnology, while Amit Kheradia, Remco Products’ education and technical support manager, will draw upon his 12 years of experience in food safety and quality assurance. Tom Kirby, director of national accounts at Accuform, will contribute his vast knowledge of lean manufacturing techniques and 5S methodology.
