The Effect of Packaging Materials on the Effect of Product Packaging

Packaging has the function of protecting and storing goods, beautifying the promotion of goods, and can affect the sale of goods. The traditional packaging concept emphasizes the protection function, and modern packaging emphasizes the essence of meeting the requirements of the product and satisfying the needs of consumers. Packaging materials are the material basis of commodity packaging, and packaging materials rely on the development of science and technology to change with each passing day. At the same time, the packaging forms are changing. As designers must be familiar with the characteristics of various packaging materials in order to be used in the scientific design of packaging, so as to design a unique and unique shape structure, to provide consumers with more product information and choices. Packaging materials have undergone a long process of development. Primitive society People use natural materials such as leaves, shells, bamboo canes and gourds to package foods. Packaging materials such as paper and cloth were used in the Northern Song Dynasty; modern industrial development, packaging materials such as metal, glass, and plastics They have emerged one after another, broadening new areas of application. Currently used packaging materials are paper, plastic, glass and metal.

Paper is one of the four major inventions in ancient China. It has many advantages such as wide resources, light weight, low cost, good foldability, suitable for printing, recyclability, etc. It is called "green packaging material" and is the most widely used one. Kind of packaging material. Paper as a carrier of product information, can make the product package appearance free and changeable, full of personality, can give consumers a fresh feeling, enhance the visual effect of product packaging. Paper packaging materials can be divided into paper, cardboard, corrugated paper three categories.

Plastic as a packaging material has good Water resistance, oil resistance, transparency, cold resistance, drug resistance, low cost, light weight, can be colored, easy processing and other characteristics, can be molded into a variety of shapes for packaging and printing. Plastics can be divided into plastic film and plastic containers according to the form used for packaging.

Metal materials began to be used in packaging at the beginning of the 19th century. With the advancement of manufacturing technology, metal packaging has become a popular packaging form. It can cut off the air, light, water vapor, and the release of aroma, good airtightness, anti-impact, re-closed, and can save food for a long time, has been valued by people. With the development of the printing iron technology, the appearance has become more and more beautiful. Now commonly used metal packaging materials are: Horse 1:3 iron skin, aluminum and aluminum foil and composite materials.

Glass was used as a container in ancient Egypt in the 15th and 16th centuries BC. It has a series of advantages such as high transparency and corrosion resistance, simple manufacturing process, free and variable shape, high hardness, heat resistance, cleanness, easy cleaning, airtightness, easy sealing, repeated use, abundant raw materials, and low price. In line with the connotation of green packaging materials. As a packaging material, glass is mainly used for food, oil, alcohol, beverages, seasonings, cosmetics, and liquid chemical products, and is widely used.

In addition to the above four currently used packaging materials, wood, ceramics, textiles, etc. are often used as packaging materials. The selection of materials in packaging design is based on scientific principles, economy, and applicability. Packaging materials exhibit different packaging effects, and a reasonable choice of packaging materials plays an important role in the overall packaging effect.

The thousands of years of long-standing Chinese traditional culture of the Chinese nation have formed a unique style of oriental culture, and also bred a profound packaging culture. Abundant natural resources provide the conditions for the selection and use of packaging materials. The unique materials embody the characteristics of the folk traditional craftsmanship unique to the Chinese nation, such as grass, rattan, bamboo, willow, cotton, hemp, rice paper and other special packaging materials. Reflecting a simple packaging image, it produced rich traditional cultural features and also formed a unique visual image of Chinese packaging.

The packaging of “Liquor of the Lake” and “Huanglong Yuye” won praise in the world design field and was selected as a permanent collection by the National Museum of Paris, France in 1988. "Wine of the lake" uses pottery, bamboo, bamboo shoots, and cloth as packaging materials. The outer packaging is made of bamboo slips and salty. The bamboo slips are bundled with two ropes, which resembles the records used in ancient history. Unwinding the rope, an ancient wine formula with a hand-written body on the one hand, and a yellow, slow cloth in the history, reveals mysteriously a far-flung culture of fluorine. The resonating design is a ceramic bottle of primitive colors. The pottery jar of the ancient manuscript is of Banpo pottery appearance. The text is engraved on the bottle body. The bottleneck and seal are outsourced with bamboo shoots and used in ancient China. The coins used represent the beauty and classicality of wine. "Huanglongyulu" bottle body made of clay, shape is intended to take the Chinese Tang Dynasty Fengchi pot prototype from the appearance point of view, black glaze sag, wind mouth high, faucet low drink. Ancient spirit style. The name of the wine on the bottle and the description of the text in the Yin Liu, simple and honest, show a piece of Yan Huang Wenfeng.

The packaging of “Lake of Wine” and “Huanglong Yuye” uses Chinese traditional packaging materials. Embodies the quaint visual image. This quaint visual image of packaging has a direct relationship with the choice of materials in its packaging. Therefore, when we pursue the visual effects of product packaging, we should fully consider the impact of the choice of packaging materials on the packaging effect.

The success of the “Lake Wine” and “Huanglong Yuye” packaging images illustrates the designer’s emphasis on the product packaging design and the thinking of the three-dimensional packaging design. The application of materials also has a careful and rigorous design and research. Another example, "Gujing Spring Wine". In the packaging design, the characteristics of the materials are used to display the product features, so that the inherent properties of the materials and products are fully combined, displaying the quaint Chinese cultural characteristics and achieving a good packaging effect.

Packaging is a commercial work. Designers must meet the needs of the market, and shaping good visual effects is the goal pursued by every packaging designer. The visual effects of product packaging will play an important role in promoting the sales of goods and increasing the competitiveness of the goods. Packaging materials are the only real substances that can be touched by consumers in product packaging applications. Contact with consumers is more intuitive and specific. Packaging materials bear the role of information carriers in commodity packaging. Because of the different properties of the materials themselves, the packaging manufacturing process is also different, and the visual effects naturally produced are also different. Therefore, the choice of packaging materials in packaging design is an important part of packaging design, and it is also one of the main factors affecting the packaging effect. For a packaging designer, mastering good design techniques is only a necessary skill. At the same time, you must be familiar with the characteristics of various packaging materials and be aware of the effects of each material in order to make full use of materials. Role, using materials to reflect the best packaging visual effects, make the best packaging of goods.
