The 15th Paralympic Games will be held in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil from September 7th to 18th. On August 22, the reporter learned from the Provincial Disabled Persons' Federation that six disabled athletes and one coach in the province will participate in the 15 games of track and field, swimming and table tennis in this year's Paralympic Games.
It is reported that the 15th Paralympic Games has a total of 22 major items and 528 items in the three major disability categories: visual disability, physical disability, and intellectual disability, and there will be 4,350 athletes from more than 170 countries and regions. The total number of Chinese sports delegations in the Paralympic Games will be 499, including 308 athletes. They will participate in the competition of 17 major events with 328 items. Zhang Yan, Xu Qing, Wang Jingang, Li Lu, Zhao Yalong, Shen Tongqing and six disabled athletes and one coach in our province will participate in the Paralympics. At present, six athletes from our province are training in Beijing and will leave from Beijing to Rio on August 31.
It is understood that disabled athletes of our province have participated in the 7th New York Paralympic Games since 1984 and have currently participated in 8 sessions. They have won 30 gold medals, 8 silver medals and 6 bronze medals, breaking 14 world records.
