Gomez Associates: Modern Design With A Luxurious Edge
Gomez Associates
was established back in 1975 by the visionary designer, Mariette Himes Gomez. Known for her keen eye for detail and a knack for blending modern aesthetics with luxurious touches, Mariette quickly became a prominent figure in the world of interior design. Over the decades, her work has graced the pages of prestigious publications such as The New York Times, Architectural Digest, Architectural Record, House Beautiful, and Town & Country. In addition to her design prowess, Mariette has also ventured into furniture design since 1992, creating pieces that embody her signature style.
Mariette's career has spanned over three decades, during which she has consistently reinvented herself and her approach to design. Her ability to craft serene, beautiful spaces that cater to the needs of modern families is nothing short of extraordinary. Mariette's signature style combines sleek architectural details with an impeccable sense of color, highlighting both timeless antiques and contemporary art pieces. Her designs effortlessly balance high-style glamour with a refined simplicity that speaks volumes about her understanding of luxury and comfort.
Born and raised in New York City, Mariette grew up surrounded by creativity and innovation. Her father, an architect, and her mother, an interior designer, provided her with a unique upbringing that heavily influenced her career path. As a child, she often found herself immersed in design projects, from selecting lighting fixtures for her dollhouse to helping her mother choose fabrics for home decor. Her early fascination with design continued to grow, eventually leading her to establish her own firm, Gomez Associates. Mariette’s influence can be seen not only in her residential projects but also in her commercial ventures, where she brings the same level of attention to detail and elegance.
Mariette’s daughter, Brooke Gomez, has followed in her footsteps, establishing herself as a talented designer in her own right. Brooke’s portfolio includes a range of projects from New York apartments and townhouses to homes in Connecticut, Chicago, and beyond. Her work spans across various styles, from classic elegance to modern chic, showcasing her versatility and creativity. Recently, Brooke completed renovations for notable clients such as Michael J. Fox and Sigourney Weaver, and undertook a comprehensive townhouse renovation in Greenwich Village. Her participation in Bravo’s second season of Bethenny Ever After further solidified her presence in the design world, where she transformed Bethenny Frankel’s Tribeca loft into a stunning space.
