Australia's first PET plastic wine bottle will be available
On Monday, the first Wolf Blass wine packaged in a 750-ml PET bottle will be available in Australia at a price of AUD 17 per bottle. Two wines from the Wolf Blass brand under the Foster Group in Australia will be packaged in PET plastic bottles. The two eco-packed wines are crispy dry white blends and Xila/Cabernet blends, which are called “Green Brand†wines. With a shelf life of 12 months, its price category may attract a large number of environmentally conscious consumers. Forster has planned to launch A$1 million to promote this new brand, educate consumers to increase environmental awareness and consume environmentally-friendly products. Forster Group stated that the new wine bottles will reduce greenhouse gas emissions by 29% compared with traditional glass bottles. In addition, laboratory taste tests confirmed that the taste of PET bottles was the same as that of glass bottles. Earlier, several Australian companies have launched 186 ml PET bottles of small packages, but this is the first case of the 750-ml high-capacity PET packaging like the Foster Group. According to Oliver Horn, global brand manager for Wolf Blass, PET bottles use 100% recycled and recyclable packaging materials. The PET bottle filled with wine is 36% lighter than the same glass bottle. The PET empty bottle weighs 51 grams and is 90% lighter than glass bottles.
