As an employee-owned company, we take our social responsibility seriously. Every year, we run a charitable giving campaign that reflects the values and concerns of our team. This year, each of our nine divisions across the UK voted on a local charity to support with a £1,000 donation. The choices made in 2021 highlight some of the most pressing issues that have impacted our employees over the past year.

The Compliance Division and the Regional Distribution Centres in Sittingbourne and Rotherham chose to support their local food banks: The Coventry Foodbank, The Family Food Bank at Sittingbourne, and The Rotherham Foodbank. With demand for emergency food parcels rising by 33% due to the ongoing crisis, these donations are more vital than ever. It's heartening to see how the Kite teams have come together to support those in need.

 

Lockdowns have also brought attention to the issue of domestic violence. In response, the Midlands RDC donated to Coventry Haven, while the North-East operation supported Anxious Minds. Both charities offer critical help and resources to women facing difficult situations, especially during times of isolation.

 

Swindon and Portsmouth recognized the increased challenges faced by adults with disabilities or mental health conditions. They chose to support the Phoenix Enterprise and Scope, both of which provide essential support, guidance, and emotional care to those who need it most.

 

Letchworth decided to back Garden House Hospice, a local facility offering free palliative care to patients, families, and carers dealing with life-limiting illnesses. Their work depends heavily on community support, and Kite is proud to contribute to their important mission.

 

Meanwhile, the Online Division at Kite Packaging chose Cancer Research as their charity of choice. This organization continues its vital work to find new treatments and cures for a disease that affects one in two people in their lifetime.

 

This annual initiative not only supports local communities but also gives every team member a chance to make a real difference. By allowing each division to choose its own cause, we foster a sense of ownership and engagement that aligns perfectly with our employee-owned culture. It’s a powerful reminder of what we can achieve when we come together for a common good.
