As an employee-owned company, we take our social responsibility seriously. Every year, we run a charitable giving campaign that reflects the values and concerns of our team. This year’s donations were chosen by each of our nine divisions across the country, with each selecting a local charity to receive £1,000 in support.

The Compliance Division and Regional Distribution Centres in Sittingbourne and Rotherham chose to support their local foodbanks—The Coventry Foodbank, The Family Food Bank at Sittingbourne, and The Rotherham Foodbank. With demand for emergency food parcels rising by 33% due to the ongoing crisis, these charities are more vital than ever. Their work is a powerful reminder of how communities can come together to support one another, and this was clearly reflected in the choices made by our teams.

Lockdowns have also brought attention to the issue of domestic violence, which has increased significantly during the pandemic. As a result, the Midlands RDC supported Coventry Haven, while the North-East operation donated to Anxious Minds. Both organizations provide crucial support to women facing difficult situations, especially those exacerbated by isolation and quarantine.

Swindon and Portsmouth recognized the challenges faced by adults with disabilities or mental health conditions during this time, and they chose to support the Phoenix Enterprise and Scope. These organizations offer vital resources, including practical guidance and emotional support, helping individuals navigate difficult periods with greater confidence and independence.

Letchworth decided to donate to Garden House Hospice, a local facility that provides free palliative care to patients, families, and carers dealing with life-limiting illnesses. The hospice relies heavily on community support, so Kite is proud to be able to contribute to its continued operation.

Meanwhile, the Online Division at Kite Packaging chose Cancer Research as their charity of choice. This organization plays a key role in advancing cancer treatment and research, which affects one in two people over the course of their lives.

The annual giving program is designed to empower employees to make a real impact in their local areas. By allowing each division to choose its own charity, we encourage a sense of ownership and responsibility that aligns with our core values as an employee-owned business. It's not just about giving money—it's about making a difference where it matters most.
