The new heat aging test box GBT7141-2008 standard foreword

**Foreword – New Heat Aging Test Chamber Standard GB/T 7141-2008** This standard is based on and modified from the ASTM D5510:1994 (2001) standard, "Standard Specification for Thermal Aging of Oxidatively Degradable Plastics." It has been re-drafted to align with the original ASTM specification while incorporating necessary adjustments to suit China’s specific conditions. Technical differences between this standard and ASTM D5510:1994 (2001) have been clearly marked in the text by vertical single lines in the margins next to the relevant terms. A detailed list of these technical differences, along with their reasons, is provided in Appendix A for reference. To enhance usability, several editorial changes have been made to the original ASTM D5510:1994 (2001): - The term “ASTM standard” has been replaced with “this standard.” - The original description of ASTM D5510:1994 (2001) has been removed. - All notes and references from the original standard have been deleted. - An introduction section has been added for the preface of national standards. - In the normative references, ASTM standards have been replaced with equivalent national or international standards. - Appendix A has been included to provide additional information. This standard replaces the previous version, GB/T 7141-1992, titled "Test Method for Exposure of Plastic Hot Air Aging." The main differences between this new standard and GB/T 7141-1992 include: - While the previous standard only described one type of heat aging test chamber (forced air ventilation), this standard introduces two types: gravity convection and forced ventilation chambers. Each is suitable for different sample thicknesses. - More detailed requirements are now provided for selecting test cycles for plastic heat aging. - In addition to methods for testing at a single temperature, this standard also includes procedures for testing at a range of temperatures. This allows for a more comprehensive evaluation of material performance, including temperature stability and expected service life under different conditions. Appendix A is an informative annex that provides supplementary guidance. This standard was proposed by the China Petroleum and Chemical Industry Association and is under the administration of the National Plastics Standardization Technical Committee. It was drafted by Guangzhou Synthetic Materials Research Institute Co., Ltd. and Beijing Tianjia Technology Co., Ltd. The main contributors to this standard are Wang Haojiang, Shao Fang, Li Jie, Shan Jinhua, Yang Xinhua, Yang Yunong, and Xie Zhenping. Previous versions of the standard that are now replaced include GB/T 7141-1986 and GB/T 7141-1992.
