The Importance of Packaging (I)

From the time the product goes from the manufacturing plant to the end of the consumer, it is inseparable from the packaging. In the buyer's market today, packaging has become an inseparable part of the goods, forming an organic whole with the products themselves. In the international market, the packaging of goods is one of the powerful weapons that can open and occupy the market. The significance and role of packaging are no exception.
The so-called packaging is:
1 refers to the container that holds and protects the product, ie, the packaging, such as boxes, bags, bottles, boxes, etc. According to the role in circulation can be divided into: inner packaging (also known as small packaging), middle packaging, outer packaging; can be divided according to use: general packaging, special packaging; according to the degree of pressure can be divided into: hard packaging, semi-hard Packaging and flexible packaging; according to manufacturing materials can be divided into: wood, paper, metal and plastic packaging. It plays an important role in maintaining product quality, reducing waste, facilitating transportation, storage and sales, beautifying goods, and improving service quality.
2 refers to the operation activities of dressing products, such as packing, packing, etc. ("Ci Hai" condensed version", p. 329).
Commonly referred to as the packaging of goods is generally divided into transport packaging and sales packaging. The following is a brief discussion of the importance of such packaging in international trade.
First, transport packaging (also known as packaging)
(1) Protecting commodities to ensure that they will not be damaged or lost during the entire process from shipment to consumption
The manufactured goods are ultimately sent to consumers. The entire process is not just a matter of “sending.” Storage, handling, and transportation are indispensable links. In this process, commodities are generally threatened by five aspects. “
1, the destruction of external forces: impact, drop, vibration, swing, etc.;
2, the impact of environmental changes: high temperature, low temperature, humidity, low pressure, precipitation, etc.;
3, the destruction of biological invasion: mold, insects, rodents, etc.;
4. Corrosion of chemically active substances: seawater, carbon dioxide, ammonia, hydrochloric acid, etc.
5, man-made destruction: rough handling, theft and so on.
This requires the packaging to have a solid structure and a reasonable volume, on the one hand to protect the goods from damage, on the other hand to facilitate the handling and improve the transport load utilization rate, especially for the export of goods around the world, many links, long routes, The conditions for transportation and handling and the climate between regions are quite different and the requirements for packaging are more stringent. According to the statistics of relevant data, China's export goods account for about 10% of the reduction in foreign exchange earnings every year due to losses caused by bad packaging, while the domestic market has a pass rate of less than 60% for commodity packaging. The nation’s losses caused by unsatisfactory packaging of goods are at least As much as 15 billion yuan, the resulting labor and other hidden losses are even more incalculable. For example, in 2001, Yunnan's exports of metal silicon in Russia and citronella oil exported to Singapore were all damaged due to packaging, and were returned by foreign companies.
However, reasonable design and high-quality packaging can not only protect the goods from damage, but even play a role in increasing profits. For example, the chemical raw materials exported from China in the past few years, such as lithopone and titanium dioxide, were initially packaged in glass-fiber-polyethylene bags at a rate of 50 kilograms per bag. However, the empty bag is easy to crack after folding, and the price is more expensive. Later, it was changed to a polypropylene woven fabric/polypropylene/kraft paper composite bag, and after each bag was changed to 25 kg, on the one hand, the loss was reduced, and on the other hand, the selling price was also increased.
(2) Guaranteeing the safety of international transportation and ensuring the integrity of goods
As we all know, dangerous goods have flammable, explosive, toxic, corrosive and radioactive properties, if the performance of the package does not meet the requirements, or improper use, it is easy to cause fire, explosion and other dangerous situations. China is a major exporter of dangerous goods. There are more than 300 varieties of dangerous goods exported across the country. However, in the past a relatively long period of time, due to the slow development of China's packaging industry and the poor quality of product packaging, it has been unable to effectively protect export commodities, resulting in the handling, storage, and storage. In the process of transportation, serious and serious accidents such as explosions and fires of dangerous goods occur from time to time. In 1982, my "Lianhua City" wheel sank in the Indian Ocean. In 1983, I burned an ocean-going round of "Longxikou" and burned. I burned for seven days and seven nights in the port of Singapore and finally sank in the Indian Ocean. In the same year, I exported calcium carbide. Explosion due to packaging problems ... and all of the causes of all this are all the consequences of the dangerous goods that were carried due to the poor quality of the packaging and the leakage of the contents during the flight.
