Figure 3D printable Boeing 787 engine model

Recently, at the RC Groups online forum, a 3D printing enthusiast named Harcoreta showed his remarkable achievement - the simulation model of the general-purpose electric (GE) turbofan jet engine used on the 3D printed Boeing 787. . This is a complete functional jet engine scale model that accurately replicates the internal and external structure of the engine. It is particularly commendable that all 60 fixed and movable blades of this simulated engine were produced by Harcoreta using a desktop 3D printer .

And this 3D printing engine is available! Harcoreta's next step is to install it on a model airplane!

Under normal circumstances, printing such an aero engine model is a big challenge even for industrial grade 3D printers. This project is ample proof of what kind of miracle can be created if one is willing to spend the energy and time on creative things meticulously!

Harcoreta is an active user on the RC Group. He often designs and manufactures some eye-catching 3D printing models. For example, he used to print a small EDF engine in 3D. Soon after, he considered 3D printing a larger and more complex aero engine, and for some reason the plan was put on hold for a year. But then Harcoreta restarted the project, and his plan was to test the 3D printing engine on an amateur Bixler aircraft. Harcoreta admits that in addition to design, he spent more time on 3D printing and manufacturing assembly. The design also includes a reverse thruster that gives the engine enough power to stop the remote control aircraft. According to China's 3D printing network, Harcoreta will soon test this 3D printing engine.

The technical specifications of this GE GEnx-1B 3D printing engine are as follows:

̇Main fan 18 blades, diameter 100 mm

̇24 outlet guide vanes

̇18 internal turbine blades, 34 mm in diameter

̇Reverse thruster with translation fairing, blocking door and cascade

̇NTM 1400kv 35 mm motor

̇ Thrust target >0.5 kg, maximum 3S or 4S

̇Simplified engine hanger

̇ slightly reduced the exhaust area, about 95% fsa

Although China's 3D printing network has already reported some amazing works by 3D printed by fans, such as 3D printing Toyota engines and solar drones. But this time Harcoreta's 3D printing jet engine has undoubtedly taken a new step, and we look forward to the latest news on his testing on the Bixler aircraft!
