The layout process of corrugated boxes has long been a weak point in many companies' management systems, often overlooked despite its critical role. In reality, the quality of typesetting directly affects the final print quality and production efficiency, making it an essential part of the manufacturing process that should not be neglected. Many corrugated box manufacturers face common issues during the layout stage. These include torn printing plates, misaligned adhesive tapes, and temperature fluctuations that cause the plates to age or deform over time. In winter, cold conditions can make materials brittle, while summer heat may lead to warping and instability. Such problems can significantly impact both the visual appeal and structural integrity of the final product. To address these challenges, companies must improve their storage practices by implementing 5S principles—Sorting, Setting in Order, Sweeping, Standardizing, and Sustaining. Proper organization of the printing plates, including fixed positioning based on usage frequency, helps maintain order. Regular checks and timely disposal of outdated plates ensure that only current and accurate versions are used, contributing to a more efficient and professional working environment. When setting up the hanging strips, alignment with the base edge is crucial. Most domestic corrugated box factories still rely on traditional methods, such as using adhesive tape to secure the hanging strip to the base. However, this method can lead to misalignment over time, especially in hot and humid seasons. To solve this, some companies now use cold welding technology, which fuses the hanging strip and base material at a molecular level, providing a stronger and more stable bond. Additionally, fiber tape is often applied near the ends of the hanging strip to prevent tearing under stress. Accurate reference lines are fundamental to ensuring correct layout positioning. Poorly drawn lines can result in misalignment, overprinting errors, or other inconsistencies. There are two key reference lines: the vertical center line, which runs from the top to the bottom of the plate, and the horizontal zero line, which marks the standard distance from the edge of the corrugated box. These lines serve as the foundation for all subsequent measurements. Once the reference lines are in place, the upper shake line, box height line, and lower shake line should be drawn according to the box's dimensions. It’s important to follow the circumferential division requirements but not necessarily the horizontal ones. When mounting the plate, ensure proper alignment and check for any lifting edges, missing prints, loose adhesive, or damaged paper. Most corrugated box factories still rely on manual scribing, which leads to significant positional errors. Some companies have started using simple tooling systems that project the layout positions directly onto the printing film. This technique improves accuracy and reduces human error, making the layout process more reliable and consistent.
