Comparison of different surface friction coefficients of the same packaging material

Abstract: There are many factors that affect the friction coefficient of packaging materials. A slight difference on the surface of the material may affect its friction coefficient. This paper compares the friction performance of different surfaces of the sample through the test of the friction coefficient of different surfaces of the same packaging material, and introduces the test principle, the parameters and application scope of the equipment MXD-02 friction coefficient instrument, and the test process. And to provide reference for controlling the friction coefficient of packaging materials.

1. Significance

Friction coefficient is an important attribute of packaging materials and a parameter index that characterizes the material's smoothness. The value of this index is related to the smoothness of the material surface and the performance of the friction surface it contacts. Packaging materials generally adjust their own friction coefficient by adding additives such as opening agents, slip agents, antistatic agents, etc., to reduce the mutual adhesion of materials due to molecular chain entanglement, static electricity and other factors, and improve the smoothness of the material. The amount and uniformity of additives added to reduce the coefficient of friction are important factors affecting the coefficient of friction of the material. In addition, the stiffness of the material itself, printing, compounding, etc. may affect the slip performance of the material.

In order to successfully complete the packaging process, the friction coefficient of the inner layer film (directly contacting the product) and the outer layer film of the flexible plastic packaging material is different. Large to ensure the accurate positioning of the cigarette film and the compactness of the cigarette pack; the coefficient of friction of the outer film is small, which facilitates the sliding of the cigarette film between the packaging equipment. The above-mentioned factors that affect the friction coefficient of the material help to achieve the different requirements of the friction coefficient of different surfaces of the packaging material. This article tests and compares the friction coefficients of different surfaces of the same packaging material.

2. Testing basis

The standard on which this test is based is GB 10006-1988 "Method for Measuring the Friction Coefficient of Plastic Films and Sheets". This standard applies to non-stick plastic films and sheets with a thickness of less than 0.2 mm when they slide on the surface of themselves or other materials. Dynamic friction coefficient test process.

3. Test samples

In this paper, the plastic composite film for food packaging is used as the test sample.

4. Test equipment

In this test, the MXD-02 friction coefficient meter was used as the test equipment to test the friction coefficient between the inner film and the inner film, the outer film and the outer film of the sample. The device was independently developed and produced by Jinan Languang Electromechanical Technology Co. .

4.1 Test principle

The test is to test the change of the force value during a certain distance from static to constant speed on the friction surface under a certain pressure to obtain the coefficient of friction between the sample and the friction surface. The pressure on the surface of the sample is applied by the slider of the corresponding specification. The ratio of the maximum force value measured before the sample slides to the above pressure is the static friction coefficient. The ratio of the tensile force value measured during the sliding of the sample to the above pressure Is the coefficient of dynamic friction.

4.2 Scope of application

(1) This equipment is professionally used to measure plastic film and sheet, aluminum foil, aluminum-plastic composite film, metal composite tape for communication cable and optical cable, metal products, rubber, paper, cardboard, woven bag, textile, non-woven fabric, conveyor belt , Wood, coatings, brake pads, wipers, shoe materials, tires and other materials, the static friction coefficient and dynamic friction coefficient when sliding, can also be used for cosmetics, eye drops and other daily necessities of slip test.

(2) This equipment meets many national and international standards, such as GB 10006, ISO 8295, ASTM D1894, TAPPI T816, etc.

4.3 Device parameters

0 ~ 5 N, the test accuracy is 0.5 grade; the stroke is divided into 70 mm and 150 mm; the mass of the standard slider is 200 g, and other quality sliders can be customized according to the needs of users or related standards; The test speed is 100 mm / min or 150 mm / min, and other test speeds can be adjusted as needed; the dynamic and static friction coefficients of the sample can be measured at the same time; the test table and the test slider have undergone demagnetization treatment and residual magnetism detection , Effectively reducing the test error of the system; professional software can automatically perform statistical analysis of the results of single-piece and group tests and re-analysis of the original data, superimposed comparison of group curves, and a variety of reporting modes intuitively and quickly display test results Customer; support LystemTM laboratory data sharing system, unified management of test reports and test results.

5. Test process

5.1 Cutting

With the inner film of the sample to be tested facing upwards, cut 3 pieces of 8 cm × 20 cm and 63 mm × 100 mm samples for the test of the inner film to the inner film; then, the outer film is facing up. Three samples of 8 cm × 20 cm and 63 mm × 100 mm were cut out and used to test the outer film of the sample. During the cutting process, the test area of the sample must not be touched by hand.

5.2 Setting parameters

Set the test speed, test stroke, sample name and other parameter information on the equipment control software.

5.3 Test

Take a piece of 63 mm × 100 mm sample and clamp it on the slider, and take another piece of 8 cm × 20 cm sample, and fix it on a horizontal test stand with transparent tape. The tape cannot touch the test area. When the inner layer film is tested against the inner layer film, the outer layer film of the sample is in direct contact with the slider and the test bench, and when the outer layer film is tested with the outer layer film, the inner layer film is in direct contact with the slider and the test bench. During the loading process, your hands must not touch the test surface of the sample.

Click the test option to start the test. The device displays in real time the change in the force value of the sample from relatively stationary to sliding, and reports the measured static friction coefficient and dynamic friction coefficient after the test.

Repeat the sample loading and click the test operation until the 6 groups of samples are tested.

6. Test results

The average value of the static friction coefficient of the inner layer film to the inner layer film of the three groups of samples tested in this test is 0.241, and the average value of the dynamic friction coefficient is 0.216; The value is 0.191.

7. Conclusion

From the test results, the friction coefficient of the outer film of the plastic composite film sample tested this time is smaller than that of the inner film, and the static friction coefficients on both surfaces of the sample are greater than the dynamic friction coefficient. The test process of this test is simple, the equipment is easy to operate, and the accuracy of the test results is high, which can reflect the smooth performance of the sample stably and reliably. The flatness of the sample and its surface after clamping, whether the sample surface is contaminated during cutting and clamping will affect the test result value, so it should be avoided during the selection, cutting and clamping of the sample. The sample surface is creased and contaminated.
